MANAGING MEMBER / CO-FOUNDER

Matias Eduardo Garcia

Matt Garcia is the managing member of BarnettGarcia. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Business and School of Law, Mr. Garcia has prosecuted hundreds of cases on behalf of insurance carriers, creditors and financial institutions in state and federal forums. He is admitted to the State Bar of Texas and the Western District of Texas and is a member of the Austin Bar Association, Commercial Law League of America, International Association of Commercial Collectors, and American Inns of Court, Robert Calvert Inn.

Mr. Garcia is a frequent speaker for the State Bar of Texas and has previously spoken for the University of Texas School of Law  and the University of Houston Law School CLE Department.  He has previously served on the Pastoral Council for St. Austin’s Catholic Church, the Board of Directors for the Center for Child Protection and on a subcommittee of the Board of Directors for Business Invest in Growth, a non-profit organization dedicate to providing education, counseling and loans to small businesses.

Recently, Mr. Garcia was re-appointed by the Travis County Commissioner’s Court to serve on the Travis County Child Protective Services Board and currently serves as their Treasurer.

Mr. Garcia is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

ATTORNEY AT LAW

Morgan M. Matson

Mr. Matson is of counsel to Barnett & Garcia. Admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1999, Mr. Matson obtained a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Trinity University and his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. In addition to representing creditors, Mr. Matson represents insurance carriers in various areas, including ordinary negligence, catastrophic wrongful death, personal injury, medical negligence, premises liability, and the Texas Tort Claims Act.

He is also experienced in administrative review cases before professional licensing boards. In 2004, Mr. Matson was awarded the 2004 Defense Counsel Star Award by the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Nation Insurance Company. He is currently the Chair of the Development Committee for the Boysville Board of Directors, a board member for Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital Foundation, President-Elect of the Downtown Optimist Club of San Antonio and a Texas Bar Foundation Life Member. In addition to Mr. Matson’s litigation practice, Mr. Matson oversees our expansion into San Antonio.

ATTORNEY AT LAW

Lawrence Falli

Lawrence Falli is the newest attorney with Barnett & Garcia. He was originally licensed to practice law in Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois in 2000. In 2009, the State of Texas granted him a license to practice in that state. He joined Barnett & Garcia in 2012 after 7 years with the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. As an Assistant Attorney General, he practiced civil law before the Illinois state and federal courts as well as numerous administrative boards. The Attorney General entrusted first-chair trial responsibility in multi-million dollar cases and injunctions impacting state agencies. In his free time, Falli taught as an adjunct professor of legal writing at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Prior to joining the AG, Falli was an Assistant States Attorney in Illinois, working in the Social Security Administration’s IV-D program. In law school, he interned with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Judge Wayne Andersen of US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and Judge Frank Orlando of the Illinois Circuit Court. He also clerked for the Budin Law Firm, a civil litigation firm in Chicago.

Lawrence graduated from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago where he received the Hermann Memorial Dean’s Scholarship, a West Publishing Award, the Cali Excellence Award, and several semesters on the Dean’s List.  He studied abroad at King’s Inns in Dublin, Ireland concentrating on negotiations and comparative law.

Currently, Falli is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Independent Bar Association, and MENSA.

ATTORNEY AT LAW

Sean S. V. Homrig

Sean S. V. Homrig. Mr. Homrig is an associate attorney with Barnett & Garcia. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2008 and received his preparatory education from Columbia College and his law degree from the St. Mary’s University School of Law. Mr. Homrig practice focuses on representing insurance carriers, creditors and financial institutions in state and federal forums.

Originally from Chicago, Sean attended Columbia College, where he majored in television and film studies. After working as everything from an administrative assistant to directing murder mystery events, he moved to Austin, Texas in 2000. Sean attended St. Mary’s University School of Law and spent two semesters working in the School’s Community Development Program, during which he did research for a Texas municipality on a freedom of religion issue. Sean joined Barnett & Garcia in December, 2007 as a law clerk and, after passing the bar exam, began working for the firm as an attorney in May, 2008

ATTORNEY AT LAW

Ian A. McCarthy

Mr. McCarthy is an associate attorney with Barnett & Garcia.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2011 and received his preparatory education from Texas State University and his law degree from South Texas College of Law.  While at South Texas College of Law, he served as Articles Editor for the Corporate Counsel Review and won several awards for his moot court presentations and brief writing.  His practice focuses on representing insurance carriers, creditors and financial institutions in state and federal forums.
